4th Octet.
The engineering and managed services arm of the Kennedy Consulting practice.
Kennedy Consulting is the architecture and advisory practice. 4th Octet is the engineering practice. They share a founder, a leadership team, and an approach, but they exist as separate entities because they do different work.
The distinction is operational, not cosmetic. When Kennedy Consulting completes an architecture or assessment engagement, the natural next question is implementation: who actually builds the thing, who runs it after the build, who answers the phone at 2 AM when something breaks. That work has a different cadence, a different commercial structure, and a different operational rhythm than advisory and architecture. 4th Octet exists to do that work properly.
When you'd engage 4th Octet
Implementation of architecture designed by Kennedy Consulting or another advisory firm.
Network refresh projects, datacenter buildouts, segmentation rollouts, wireless deployments, and migrations from legacy infrastructure to modern reference architectures.
Managed services for enterprise networks.
Ongoing operations, monitoring, incident response, and lifecycle management for production environments. The team that designed it is the team that runs it.
Engineering delivery for complex environments.
Datacenter active/active builds, ACI fabric deployment, SD-WAN rollouts, and wireless engineering for campus environments with non-trivial scale or complexity.
How the two work together
For organizations that engage Kennedy Consulting for architecture and then want 4th Octet to execute, the handoff is built in. Same leadership, same design intent, no architectural drift between design and delivery.
For organizations that have their own implementation team or a separate implementer, Kennedy Consulting will work with whoever is delivering. 4th Octet doesn't require a Kennedy Consulting engagement, and a Kennedy Consulting engagement doesn't require 4th Octet.
Engagement model. 4th Octet operates as a separate engineering and managed services firm with its own commercial structure, its own SLAs, and its own operations practice. Clients can engage 4th Octet independently or as the implementation partner following a Kennedy Consulting architecture engagement.
